I did manage to go out monday and carry my camera around.I was not too happy with the light conditions but here is a taste. Add Comment Overcast and Grey 02/23/2010
I find myself always looking up at the sky as I drive around. I ask myself,"where is the light?", "what is it doing?". Today it was doing nothing. Monotone grey and overcast. This non-light covered everything with its dullness and covered up the bright colors I crave. So on days like this I turn 180 degrees and look down. I walk around and look for small details that may be hiding just out of sight. On statebeach today the tide pushed up piles of shells...Just what I needed to get my photography monkey off my back! Does the Subject Matter? 02/18/2010
The days where I have lots of time and go out early to look for a nice scene are the days I come up empty. I learn the lesson over and over, I can't plan good light. The nicest photos I have captured have been the least planned. The light is good, the subject is good and there I am standing like a deer in the headlights with my camera and tripod. "Take a picture dummy!" But I must say my hunt for a nice landscape has been alittle frustrating lately. Perhaps it is time to try a few live models? Hmmmm? So the subject does matter to me. Flash! 02/17/2010
More overcast, more gray sky. Had to do lots of errands today and very little time to do what I enjoy, photography! So I made time at the end of the day and drove to Menemsha. Very drab up there with no color so I tried to add alittle. And I must have wandered into the scene! lol Overly Overcast 02/16/2010
Today was very gray and overcast. It is very hard to find and bring out some vivid colr on days like this. On the other hand I have found these are great days for black and white photos. But today I was thinking color. I tried alittle warm flash for the tisbury harbor scene. All Quite..... 02/15/2010
Did not get out much today. Whenever a subject does not present itself I usually will head to Vineyard Haven harbor. The light was dropping fast and I did not feel like unpacking my flash. So I just enjoyed the scene and snapped away. All quite today.... Walking the Waters edge 02/14/2010
Ok, i know it is a island. So no matter where you go you will wind up by the water. I must, Subconciously, head to the shore line. But there is ALWAYS a charming scene there. No matter what side of the island there is always a photo ready to be captured. Today I found myself out in Gay Head. The tide was low and the light was bright. The beach was filled with horseshoe crab shells. In one channel where the falling tide trickled over the sand, There was some of these shells sparkling in the water. This is why I enjoy photography! Season Change? 02/13/2010
Yes, its cold and overcast. Yes, the ground is covered with snow and ice. Will winter last forever? The answer is no. If you look real close you can feel a slight change in the season. The days are longer and the wild turkey toms are displaying for their girlfriends. Its only going to get a little warmer each day. This little bluebird in the Chilmark woods can't wait. Quiet 02/12/2010
One word for today is quiet. I had a vast amount of errands to do, so I only had one opportunity to carry my camera. Down at the harbor in tisbury the afternoon light lit up the incoming SSA ferry "Island home". The whites, blues and rust colors all had a warm look to them. With little wind the water was flat calm and all noise was reduced...nice and quiet. | AuthorI have lived here on Martha's Vineyard all of my life. One thing I love is that every day and every hour, the light and weather and seasons are always changing, always making for fun photography. ArchivesFebruary 2012 Categories |
