That Woodsey Feeling 09/29/2010
It was so nice yesterday I felt the need to walk in the woods again today. The trail I followed yesterday had a second half that crossed the road. So that is where I went today. It was incredibly peaceful and quiet.Except for one incident, I have my camera on the tripod,my big camera bag on the ground. I hear a slight buzzing but do not think much of it--till //BAM// I am stung by a bee, then another, then another! I go running back the way I came but leave all my equipment behind. Just my luck ,a mile long path and i set up right next to a bee hive! I had to watch from 20 feet awat until they calmed down alittle then rushed in to quickly scoop up my stuff. Ok it took me two or three trys! Never a dull moment..... Add Comment A walk in the woods. 09/28/2010
The leaves are still green and on the trees. The temperature is still warm but there is no doubt that fall is not too far away. So it was a pleasure to walk in the woods today and notice summer ending and autumm begining. Harvest time 09/27/2010
The main color around here is still green but you can not help but notice that fall colors are not far behind. So lately I have just been taking small walks into nature and enjoying what is around me. That woodsey feeling 09/15/2010
Yes, there are definitely less people here on the island. I can go to all the places that I was crowded out of during the summer and actually find a parking place. So today I went to Cedar Tree Neck and hiked along their great nature trails. It was my day off and I was in no rush at all. The sun was pretty harsh so I knew it would be difficult for photography out in the open. That is why I set up in the sheltered woods. more photos less talk 09/14/2010
A walk along the shore. 09/13/2010
I visited both sides of the island today. first I went to katama and admired the blue sky and clouds. Then off to Aquinnah to see the shoreline. The weather was very pleasent and it was fun to relax and play with the camera. looking through the macro lens 09/10/2010
Discovering the Island again. 09/09/2010
Wow,what a difference a week makes. Before a profusion of people and cars, now peace and quite. I was able to get around and re-discover the island and some of the hidden treasures it holds.Mother nature gave me a few brief glances of bird life and some nice scenery. My sister is also visiting and i dragged her out kicking and screaming so i could practise on her. It was fun had by all. Waiting for Earl 09/05/2010
Hurricane Earl turned out to be nothing more than a heavy rain but the hype was for a major storm hitting right on. Here are a few photos from the day before. Less Cars! 09/02/2010
Finally the island is emptying out. There are less cars already and the traffic jams have vanished. I did have a enjoyable time going up island this week and finding a parking place in Gay Head and watching the sunset. Did my final photo shoot for the local newspaper "this week" I have found that I really like portrait work and will try harder on those projects. Hurricane Earl is heading this way and should hit friday, wish us luck! | AuthorI have lived here on Martha's Vineyard all of my life. One thing I love is that every day and every hour, the light and weather and seasons are always changing, always making for fun photography. ArchivesFebruary 2012 Categories |
