![]() Still having trouble navigating my new computer. It seems they made it so simple no-one can figure it out! But really I still have a way to go to get comfortable. I won't even mention the trouble I am having with ADOBE photoshop. You have to be a system analyst for nasa just to start it up. I didmanage a few photos today. I dragged my sleepy butt out of bed at 6am and took a walk around. Oakbluffs is my favorite place to catch the sun rising. It was very overcast today and did start raining in the afternoon, but there is a tiny splash of color if you look real hard. ![]() Another spot I seem to always end up in is Lucey Vincent Beach. What makes it special for me is the boulders and rocks in the shoreline. For photography they seem to add a dimension to the scene that you might not find in Katama where there is not a rock in sight. Again the sky was gray and it started raining on me as I took this shot, but it was a real nice island day. Add Comment New Computer Blues 11/24/2009
![]() out on the beach You would not think that getting a new computer would be a problem? All my safe and familar settings are all long gone, Windows 7 is a whole new ball game. It was a nightmare trying to figure out how to do the most simple functions. The new technology is great but the directions on how to do everything is awful. Through trial and lots of error I managed to get something done. This is my first blog post with my new machine so I must be doing something right. Today was a typical new england day, cold strong wind blowing offshore with fog threatening all day. After work I did manage to run to the beach and a few scenes. Where does the light go? 11/17/2009
I am begining to believe that I am a vampire or something. All my photos seem to be after sunset and later. I have two explanations, one I do not go out to do my photography till late afternoon, so I don't have much time and two I love it when the sky starts glowing with color. During a visit to the tisbury town hall I managed to take a quick photo of the great murals they have in there. They are terrific. And I ended the day out in the beach grass watching the sunset behind the edgartown lighthouse and the harborview hotel. The wind was picking up and it is definetly getting colder around here. Good Morning, Good Night. 11/16/2009
Where I got the extra energy I have no idea. So not only did I get alot of chores done today, I managed to collect a sunrise photo as well as sunset! I think it helps that the sun sets so early now. by 5pm it is pitch black around here. Oak bluffs is one of the best places to catch the sun as it rises. there is not much to place in the forground but you can never go wrong with the gazebo in ocean park. Gay head is great night or day, anytime of the year. I love it there, especially this time of the year where I might be the only person walking around. good day! Fog, fog and more fog. 11/15/2009
![]() Another day where I could not get my butt up for the sunrise. But it was a very overcast and foggy day, so that eerie morning light lingered into late morning. I took off to lucey vincent beach to see what I could see. The light was actually kind of nice, with heavey fog with just a trace of the sun trying to break through. I tried for some nice scenes in the foreground with the fog shrouding the disappearing background. I think I could have done better, but I had a great time shooting! Pinecone city 11/10/2009
![]() The day did not get any brighter. typical Vineyard overcast day. I took a walk in the woods and came across a load of pinecones. They say there is a huge bumper crop of these as well as acorns this year. Rumor has it that is a sign of a severe winter. great..... Good Morning 11/10/2009
Tried to get up and welcome the sunrise this morning, Fat chance!. Got up too late and missed the sunrise. But i did get some practise and took a few shots. It was not a spectacular sky, but a little photoshop fixed that. MOOOO 11/09/2009
![]() Just goes to show you how different the weather and light is here on the island day to day. Yesterday had a spectacular colorful sunset, today went from day to night in five minutes. But I did have a nice visit with this cow. They are huge close up. I have a really nice portrait prime lens of 85mm I love to use. she is not a model but look at those pretty eyes! The light of the sky right after the sun dips below the horizon is a nice moody blue glow. I think this is my favorite time to look for things to photograph. The atmosphere in Menemsha tonight showed that. Dusk 11/08/2009
Wow, two posts in one day? Thats what happens when I take alot of photos and want to show a few. It was a colorful and vivid sunset today. I was in Menemsha and it was so peaceful, hardly a soul around, no wind and still warm out..perfect! Once again I find myself taking the sunset and night photography. I dont mean too, but thats the time I always find myself out there with my camera. I try hard not to repeat myself. My main goal is to try and balance the light that is sliding below the horizon at a rapid pace. I am fiddling with every dial, reaching for my flash, dropping things etc. I might get one good photo out of twenty! But I enjoy it, so what the hell. ARTSHOW 11/08/2009
Its sunday morning and just finished hanging my photographs in the Oak bluffs coffe shop Mocha Motts. Now I have an artshow in each of their places at the sametime.(I wonder if they have had that done before?) And I am very pleased with the results. It was last minute but I think it looks ok. I wanted to show some bright colorful, eye grabbing images, and I might have just done that. Thanks again to Merideth and all the Mocha Motts crew who are all so nice and helpful. | AuthorI have lived here on Martha's Vineyard all of my life. One thing I love is that every day and every hour, the light and weather and seasons are always changing, always making for fun photography. ArchivesFebruary 2012 Categories |
