Computers.....AAARRRRRGGGGHHHH! 12/29/2009
For something that everyone uses in the world, computer codes and language is the most UN-USER friendly system...ever! I had a problem with my operating system, so i called the computer company tech deptartment, which put me on a three day up and down, frustrating roller coaster of despair in repair. What started as what should have been a easy repair dominoed into causing problems with my internet provider than reinstalling my adobe photoshop. yes, each technichan on the phone was kind and knowledgable, but each session caused some glitch somewhere else! I probably could have fixed myself if everything was not a hidden code buried beneath multiple layers of blah blah blah! All I want to do,is my photography. The computer should be a tool to help me store and send my work but it is dominating my efforts and time. I did solve the very last problem and I should be back to status quo. Today was bitterly cold. This shot out in menemsha by the jetty was just plain COLD. My fingers stopped working quickly then proceeded to throb with pain. Try switching lens when its like this...whew! Add Comment More Xmas 12/22/2009
I think I have exploited all the public displays of christmas lights on the island. It is hard to get bright colors and subject matter to photograph this time of year, so these bright lights are drawing me like a magnate. It was very cold out and the dark was coming on quickly, so I did not take my time and try to balance the white balance or light. I just started hitting the shutter button to keep my fingers warm. But it was a nice quite walk and it put me in the christmas spirit. Let it snow, let it snow. 12/22/2009
Been very busy digging out from the first big snow fall of this winter season. This left me very little time to write.Getting out and driving around on the icey roads was a real trick. I took a real chance in my car, which is just terrible in these conditions. I would say zero traction is a good discription. So I stayed close to the towns and took a few scenes of our snowy island. XMAS LIGHTS 12/15/2009
Adobe CS4 is new to me and I am having quite a time understanding it. As soon as I adjust one setting it causing some unwanted other outcome. UGGG! All I can say is there is alot of frustration with it and my new computer with what to save where and what format etc...all I want to do is photography!! Did manage a little walk about today. ![]() XMAS in OB Wave Action 12/14/2009
Today was just a wondering day. I got most of the chores done early so i just set out and drifted around looking for some good scenes. I might have found some. Did get a good walk out of it anyways. Hooo? 12/14/2009
Grey skys ,rain and cold. Thats what kind of day it was on sunday. If I got up early I might have caught some of the light, but i did not. So I visited Gus BenDavid's place to get up close and personnal with some exotic birds. He has some tremedous wildlife there, but the eurasian eagle owls are very impressive. I was inside and had to rush to keep up with the fast moving owl(he never sits still!) I had trouble getting my camera settings exactly right but I had a great time. Gorgeous owl! Beach, beach everywhere beach... 12/08/2009
Well once again I found myself at the beach! Where else, its an island after all. It cant be all bad because aquinnah is always nice and every day it looks different. I tried again to slow the shutter speed and turn the wave patterns into something dreamy. I should have brought my camera along for my scalloping adventure. Walking around the lagoon pond with hip waiters and a long net plucking the fat scallops off the bottom. But my hands were full! Overcast 12/07/2009
Did just a little photography today. The day was mostly overcast but you can always find something to look at around here. I actually enjoy the cloud cover, it is easier to photograph then the blaring sun. And with some types of polorizers I can play with the shutter speed to slow down moving objects. especially water (which we oviously have alot of here). Post Title. 12/03/2009
![]() Woke up this morning, drove down to get my coffee and weekly newspaper. And was pleasently surprised to see that my photo graced the cover of the MVTIMES. Its always special for me to get the front page and it made my day.Of course things went down hill the rest of the day...but thats life! lol( And the coffee was good!) Full Moon 12/01/2009
Today ended with a full moon shining bright. It is always nice when you are not paying attention to the phase of the moon and out it comes shining bright in a clear sky. Gay Head is one of my favorite places to go this time of the year. Not only was there a full moon, but the sky was heavenly at sunset. I spent a good amount of time trying to catch the sun as it set thru these puffy clouds. So this is facing west. When I turned east this is the scene that faced me. A full moon over the clay cliffs of Gay Head. It was still alittle to bright to get the moon perfectly but believe me it was beautiful. Times like this I really appreciate living here! | AuthorI have lived here on Martha's Vineyard all of my life. One thing I love is that every day and every hour, the light and weather and seasons are always changing, always making for fun photography. ArchivesFebruary 2012 Categories |
