Yesterday was spent out in the wet windy shoreline so today I tried the more sheltered woods of Chilmark. Again I found no one around and the woods were totally silent, a true treat. I came across a fresh water stream and many old rock walls that perhaps are hundreds of years old. I could not help to think when was the last time an islander touched these rocks and placed them on top off one another? There probably was not a tree in sight and the land was total grazing land.
