Tim Johnson Photos

Wow,what a difference a week makes. Before a profusion of people and cars, now peace and quite. I was able to get around  and re-discover the island and some of the hidden treasures it holds.Mother nature gave me a few brief glances of bird life and some nice scenery.
My sister is also visiting and i dragged her out kicking and screaming so i could practise on her. It was fun had by all.

Waiting for Earl 09/05/2010

Hurricane Earl turned out to be nothing more than a heavy rain but the hype was for a major storm hitting right on. Here are a few photos from the day before.

Less Cars! 09/02/2010

Finally the island is emptying out. There are less cars already and the traffic jams have vanished. I did have a enjoyable time going up island this week and finding a parking place in Gay Head and watching the sunset.
Did my final photo shoot for the local newspaper "this week" I have found that I really like portrait work and will try harder on those projects. Hurricane Earl is heading this way and should hit friday, wish us luck!

Obama Mania. 08/25/2010

Paragraph.

Still been having a hard time settling down and getting some nice tranquil island scenes. It is just too busy with too many cars. But one thing that is causing excitment here is the visit of president Obama. I never thought I would actually see him but on my trip to the coffee shop in Oak Bluffs you could not notice all the hub-bub with security so I knew he was coming. And sure enough he came. He went to Nancy's snack bar, probably for their fried clams!

Still having trouble tracking down nice landscape scenes. Just can not peacefully find nice natural landscapes with all the people and especially the cars everywhere. But I will keep looking. In the mean time I am enjoying practising some portraits. I learn by all my mistakes, thats for sure!

Today I tried my hand at some portrait taking. the conditions were almost perfect but a little too windy. It kept threatening to blow my flash stand over. I had to work fast as the light quickly faded, and many little thing went wrong of course. One nice example came of it, so that made it worth it.

So many cars and so many people really push me out of the way. It is such a treat to find a nice scene with east access!

Model Shoot 07/29/2010

Had a pleasent day on a model assignment in edgartown. Using a quiet park in edgartown as the location we could operate freely and not be bothered by all the foot traffic of main street.
Once again Trena stood in as the model for some nice clothing, and once again some nice results!
On the way home spotted some wind surfers on state beach.

More Macro 07/21/2010

Now I can switch from the natural world to the man-made world. I was involved in taking these macro shots of some nice jewelery. It is always fun getting up close and personnal with anything. I think I even caught my own reflection in one shot!
